PostgreSQL-to-MSSQL is a program to migrate PostgreSQL databases to Microsoft SQL server or Azure SQL. The program has high performance: 2,5 GB PostgreSQL database is migrated to SQL Server within less than 20 minutes on an average modern system. Command line support allows to script, automate and schedule the conversion process.

Limitations

Does not convert stored procedures and triggers (our specialists can convert these objects manually as Database Migration Service)

Requirements

Supported OS: Windows XP(SP2 or SP3)/2003/Vista/Server 2008/7/8/10, Linux with WINE
MS SQL environment (server or client components of MS SQL must be installed on the same machine where you run PostgreSQL-to-MSSQL from)
Necessary privileges to write into the destination database

Quick Launch

Once you stored conversion settings into profile you can run the program in Quick Launch mode. Just launch Windows Explorer and double-click on the profile description (.p2m) file with left mouse button. This will cause PostgreSQL-to-MSSQL wizard to launch conversion loading the necessary settings from the specified profile. Then you will be taken right to the screen with progress of conversion without entering all conversion settings.

Synchronization

PostgreSQL to MS SQL converter implements synchronization as combination of insert PostgreSQL records that are missing in MS SQL table and update existing Microsoft SQL records with PostgreSQL data. For synchronization purpose source and destination tables must have identical structures and have primary key or unique index defined.

Export into T-SQL script file

Sometimes, there is no direct access to MS SQL server. For such situations PostgreSQL to MS SQL converter provides option of exporting the source database into local T-SQL script file. The resulting file will contain SQL statements to create all tables, indexes and constraints and to fill tables with the data. Then database administrator will be able to import the script file to the target server. This article explains how to import T-SQL script file to MS SQL server.
